Are You Really Covered?

I hear it all the time. "I have major medical, I'm covered" Seems many of us are still living in the past. There was a time when major medical was both affordable and reliable. Companies covered 100% of the medical cost and at a reasonable monthly premium. Of course even then it still didn't help pay the bills if you were out of work. But nowadays the monthly premiums can be as unbearable as the left over medical bills. I know of one lady who after a $2,500 deductible and 20% co-pay still owed over $38,000 in medical expenses. Like so many, it wasn't until after her bad experience that she became my client.
