2012 Aragon MotoGP Warm Up Result: Lorenzo Edges Spies
The sun is out at last at the Motorland Aragon circuit, and the skies are clear and beautiful. It is still cold, and a firm breeze is blowing across the circuit. The track is dry, but still cool, though by the time the race comes round it should have warmed up a lot more. The factory Yamahas were fastest, Jorge Lorenzo posting an impressive run, his teammate Ben Spies getting very close at the end. Teams are now looking at the hard front tire, as the warmer track temperatures will allow its use.

Chris Weidman?s reaction to the Anderson Silva-Stephan Bonnar match-up
Chris Weidman is at the front of the line of middleweights clamoring for a bout with Anderson Silva. His undefeated record and recent knockout of Mark Munoz makes him a good candidate for Silva's next title bout. However, Silva wasn't interested in a bout with Weidman. Instead of Silva, Weidman will fight Tim Boetsch at UFC 155.
So what was Weidman's reaction when Silva instead chose to fight light heavyweight Stephan Bonnar in a non-title bout at UFC 153?
Yep, that about sums it up.

AT&T 4G LTE adds Galaxy Note 2, Galaxy Tab 2 10.1, Galaxy Express and Galaxy Rugby Pro to lineup
Of the four big US carriers, AT&T's always been a solid go-to for variety across its wireless product portfolio. And today, the operator's welcoming a gaggle of Android devices from Samsung to bolster its 4G LTE offerings. Headlining this galactic quartet is the Galaxy Note II, the company's 5.5-inch phablet sequel which, though previously announced, has yet to receive a solid ship date. Also sharing that spotlight is an actual tablet, the Galaxy Tab 2 10.1, and two new smartphones: the Galaxy Express and Galaxy Rugby Pro. While that latter handset is a mere update to the rugged, water-, shock- and dust-proof OG Rugby Smart, the Express is a fresh 4.5-inch ICS device that reps a dual-core 1.5GHz CPU and considerable 2,000mAh battery. All are said to be arriving within the "coming months" which, in non-PR garble, should translate to a pre-holiday release. Check out the official presser after the break.

The Social Library: How Public Libraries Are Using Social Media
Like many of you, I'm connected to the Internet virtually every waking hour of my day - via computer, tablet and mobile phone. Yet I still regularly visit my local public library to borrow books, CDs and DVDs. Which made me wonder: are these two worlds disconnected, or is the social Web being integrated into our public libraries? The Social Library: How Public Libraries Are Using Social Media.
Smart Traveling Without A Smartphone
My friend Matteo thinks I'm crazy for what I'm not carrying. "Deficiente," the 31-year-old engineer from Parma, Italy, says. "Man, how can you not have a phone? You must be the only person in Italy without one." I'm traveling overseas without a phone, smart or otherwise. Many would say it's not smart. Maybe even dumb. I say it's one of the best ways to truly get to know a country, despite the inherent communication challenges. Smart Traveling Without A Smartphone.
How The Big Six Book Publishers Are Using Social Media
In the fifth and final part of our series, Social Books, we explore how the "big six" book publishers use social media. So far in the series we've looked at the largest social network for book lovers (Goodreads), a new social network for book writers (Writer's Bloq), how public libraries use social media, and whether book highlights are being successfully socialized. We've learned so far that almost everything to do with books - writing them, reading them, borrowing them, making highlights in them - has been impacted by Web technologies. Why Wikipedia Does Belong in the Classroom
Wikipedia remains misunderstood because many educators have yet to recognize the distinction between Wikipedia as a tool for teaching and Wikipedia as a tool for research. Unfortunately, fear of the latter has blinded most to the possibilities of the former. I believe Wikipedia to be an effective tool for both. Why Wikipedia Does Belong in the Classroom.

Facebook's 2012 Slide Looks A Lot Like MySpace's 2008 Demise
Shareholders pushed Facebook?s stock up slightly last week after reassuring comments from CEO Mark Zuckerberg. In the process, they overlooked a significant decline in two key areas reported by comScore: U.S. desktop usage, where Facebook has traditionally sold most of its ads, is down 12 percent among younger users (12 to 24 years old), who have always been seen as Facebook's core users. Apple's iOS 6 Maps App Falls Short In Early Reviews
Apple made headlines earlier this year when it was confirmed that Google Maps would no longer be the default app for mapping and navigation on iOS devices. That years-old partnership crumbled amid rising tensions between the two companies, mostly due to Google's entry into the smartphone market. To fill in the gap, Apple acquired C3 Technologies, a company that specialized in building 3D mapping software. At its Worldwide Developers Conference last summer, Apple showed off the slick, immersive result. "Apple's iOS 6 Maps App Falls Short In Early Reviews.

Gibbs Says WH Did Not Mislead on Libya

The Engadget Show 36: John Hodgman, iPhone 5, Improv Everywhere, Samsara and the New Museum
It can be tough to shake the notion that art and technology are conflicting forces -- that is, until you're confronted by a concept that lives at the crossroads of these seemingly dissonant concepts. For this latest episode of the Engadget Show, we set up shop right there, in order to explore what it means when technology itself is a work of art. We're starting things off at the New Museum on the Bowery in Manhattan, where Tim and Brian will be diving deep into the "Ghosts in the Machine" exhibition, to check out pieces like Stan VanDerBeek's Movie-Drome, a dome dreamed up in the mid-60s that foresaw a world in which the viewer is bombarded by visual stimuli. We'll also discuss how the museum is harnessing the power of the web to open its offerings up well beyond its gallery doors.
We speak to the founder and principal players of comedy performance art group Improv Everywhere about the role technology has played in the rise of the group and some of its most famous (and infamous) pranks. As ever, we're breaking out the Gadget Table to discuss the month's latest and greatest (and not-so-greatest), including the iPhone 5, Amazon's Kindle Fire and Samsung's Galaxy Note 10.1, before Brian heads out to the private (annex) library of comedian-turned-deranged-billionaire John Hodgman to discuss how technology is impacting the publishing industry and his upcoming books "That is All" and "The Complete World Knowledge Boxed Set".
While we're at it, we'll be speaking with the producer and director of the classic film Baraka and its newly released spiritual sequel, Samsara and paying a visit to the gang at Breakfast New York, who have worked with the likes of Google and Conan O'Brien to turn advertising into art. All that and the introduction of our latest feature "Ask @hodgman." Welcome to the new Engadget Show.

The Alistair Overeem doll sure has bulked up
Round 5 released its latest round of UFC dolls/action figures/toys meant for kids but likely bought by grown men. It includes a Chael Sonnen, Anderson Silva, Lyoto Machida, Dominick Cruz, and two different Alistair Overeems that don't remotely resemble each other.
The Overeem on the left in blue gloves is supposed to represent the former Strikeforce heavyweight champion's PRIDE days. The one on the right is supposed to be him in his one fight in the UFC before he was suspended by the Nevada Athletic Commission for elevated testosterone.
Overeem fought for PRIDE from 2002-2007, and moved between light heavyweight and middleweight with a few heavyweight bouts sprinkled in. He was leaner then, but also less successful, losing at light heavyweight to Mauricio "Shogun" Rua, Ricardo Arona and Antonio Rogerio Nogueira. Since moving to heavyweight permanently in 2007, he has one loss and one no contest. Putting on weight has clearly worked for him, but the dolls are one more reminder of how much muscle he has put on since fighting.
The horse meat he credits with his weight gain sure does a (doll) body good.
